The 13th International Maritime Defense Industry Exhibition held at BEXCO, Busan on the 7th.

Hanwha Group’s defense subsidiaries, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Ocean all participated in the exhibition covering all their latest technologies.

Among them, Hanwha Ocean drew attention as it was the first place to appear after launching under a new name.

Hanwha Ocean presented the Ulsan Batch-III class frigate, emphasizing that it is a ‘successor better than the lead’. It is a product that reduces underwater radiant noise by applying a complex drive system.

In addition, two export-type submarines and a complex manned and unmanned marine system including an unmanned submarine were introduced.

Hanwha Aerospace exhibited lithium battery systems for submarines and ships, and gas turbine engines for ships.

“This engine has a ‘generator’ attached to the back, and it plays the role of converting the rotational energy that comes out into electrical energy.”

In the case of the lithium battery system for submarines, it is explained that when loaded, the firing time increases approximately three times compared to the current lead acid battery, thus improving the operational capability of the naval submarine.

Hanwha Systems presented its ‘manned and unmanned marine systems’ capabilities and vision of a ‘smart warship’, such as ▲ low-orbit communication satellites ▲ unmanned marine systems ▲ ship combat systems.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman Kim Dong-gwan of Hanwha Group personally visited the booth to encourage workers and inspect the site. As the first manager on site after the launch of Hanwha Ocean, he expressed his aspirations for the future.
