Presidential candidate Shim Sang-jung of the Justice Party, who had suspended the presidential election schedule, resumed his activities on the 17th, the fifth day of his departure, and held a press conference.

Candidate Shim said, “I will never stop here. In this election, I will ask the people for the confidence of Shim Sang-jung and the Justice Party.”

Candidate Shim held a press conference titled ‘A Word to the People’ at the National Assembly on the afternoon of the same day and explained the feelings he felt during his stay, along with his future plans.
First of all, he bowed his head, saying, “I’m sorry for causing concern to the people over the past few days. I ask for forgiveness from everyone who has caused a setback because of me.”

He continued, “I made a promise to the people to create a country where labor is dignified and a just welfare state,” he said. “He diagnosed the phenomenon.

He also apologized again and again for failing to live up to the expectations of the citizens who had supported them a lot, saying, “That Shim Sang-jung is a part of the politics that has created an unequal society.” .

He also said, “In the process, the values ​​and principles of progressive politics have been greatly shaken. We humbly acknowledge the painful misjudgment.”

Candidate Shim emphasized, “The Justice Party’s role is becoming more urgent to protect the lives of the socially disadvantaged in the face of the reality of growing inequality and solidifying vested interests.

He said, “In this presidential election, I and the Justice Party will seek the people’s confidence again.” He said, “I will not do three things, such as blaming others, increasing approval ratings, and not following the principles.” He said that he would do three things: public debate and restoration of universal common values.

Regarding the failure to unify the presidential candidates between the progressive parties, he said, “I think it is my opinion that we should pursue the best possible way to promote the electoral solidarity among the progressive citizens who have been fighting inequality, the climate crisis and discrimination now.” .

Regarding the promotion of a TV debate in which only candidates from both the Democratic Party of Korea and People’s Power appear, he said, “What is the difference between being kicked out of a test center because of short stature at school. It is a democratic riot that destroys diversity and pluralism about democracy.” It’s about doing the test, not the people taking the test colluding with each other.”

He added, “As a member of the National Assembly, I only served on the Economic Standing Committee. In the past, an economist was my nickname,” he added.

Lastly, Candidate Shim said, “I have cut more hair than I have here (now). This is the first time I have cut my hair. With that in mind, I will put everything down and empty it. Please help me a lot.”
