The Italian Football Association said on its official website on the 21st (Korea time), “We accept the decision of the federal court and impose a 15-point penalty on Juventus and suspend activities for 11 Juventus executives.”
The Italian prosecutor’s office previously proved Juventus’ accusations of accounting fraud and asked for a penalty of 9 points in Serie A. It was alleged that Juventus deliberately overestimated transfer fees and tried to minimize losses in the process of transferring players to balance their accounts.
However, the actual result was a 15 point cut which was more severe than the 9 point cut. According to ESPN, Juventus denies all allegations and maintains that accounting standards are up to standard.
On the other hand, if the 15 point penalty is entered as it is, Juventus will actually lose the Serie A title this season. Juventus is in third place with 37 points. If you are penalized for a drop, you will be pushed all the way to 11th place. Juventus’ discipline may be welcome for Napoli, who lead the league with 47 points and are aiming for the title.
