[골닷컴] Reporter Hyung-joong Kim = So-yeon Ji of Chelsea Women of England Women’s Super League (WSL) is leaving England and returning to Korea.

On the afternoon of the 29th (local time), the Chelsea club announced through the official channel that Ji So-yeon will leave the team and return to Korea. However, he added that the rest of the league schedule this season and the journey to winning the FA Cup for two consecutive seasons go hand in hand.

Ji So-yeon, 31, has been with Chelsea for eight years. He is one of the longest-serving players in the current squad, scoring 68 goals in 208 appearances for Chelsea. He has also lifted a total of 11 championships, including five league titles and three FA Cup titles.

Ji So-yeon, who made her WSL debut in 2014, was named FA Female Player of the Year and PFA Female Player of the Year that year. She was also the first non-British player to set the WSL record of 100 and 200 appearances.

Ji So-yeon said in an interview with the club, “I am leaving Chelsea. It was a difficult decision. A lot has changed in the 8 years I have been there. But we have improved and reached the top spot.” Thank you. Once it’s ‘blue’, it’s always ‘blue’,” she said and shed tears.

Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes said, “It was an honor as a manager to work with one of the greatest players in WSL history. Ji So-yeon is undoubtedly the most successful foreign player in the league.” He said, “He has been a great help to the team on and off the pitch. I will miss you a lot in the future and I am very grateful for your dedication to our club.”
