It is reported that Romania, the only European Union and EU member state that operated a diplomatic mission in Pyongyang, also closed the embassy in the Corona 19 situation.
NK News, an American media specializing in North Korea, reported that the Romanian embassy in Pyongyang withdrew two remaining employees through China on the 9th and closed its doors.
In addition, American Free Asia Broadcasting and RFA also reported that the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has suspended the activities of the Romanian embassy in Pyongyang as of October 9 due to the strengthening of the North Korean authorities’ measures to respond to COVID-19.
After North Korea closed its borders early last year due to COVID-19, European countries such as Britain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Bulgaria have closed their diplomatic missions in a row.
