[정치]Concerns about the ‘Kim Dong-yeon Experiment’… Is it just a problem with the two-way composition?

[앵커]

When former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Dong-yeon, who served as the first deputy prime minister for economy under the Moon Jae-in administration, officially announced his candidacy for president, voices mixed with concerns came first rather than expectations.

There is a fundamental problem that in the end, it will not be able to survive in a strong double-gang composition, but

It is pointed out that the ambiguous timing of the candidacy and the practical difficulties in subsequent steps cannot be ignored.

When former Deputy Prime Minister of Economy, Kim Dong-yeon, ran for the presidential election, what he emphasized the most was the reform of the vested interests.

He showed his will to break the two-way structure of the Democratic Party and the people and succeed in the third zone.

To this end, we decided to create a ‘digital political platform’ that stands for low-cost and high-efficiency unlike the existing party system.

In any case, it means that former Deputy Prime Minister Kim himself cares the most about the existing political structure.

However, as in the case of Ahn Cheol-soo in 2012 and Ban Ki-moon in 2017, no candidate for the Third Zone has ever succeeded in Korean political history.

This is the reason why there is a lot of concern about former Deputy Prime Minister Kim’s presidential election experiment.

It is not just a chronic problem in our political structure.

Above all, it is pointed out that the timing of the declaration of candidacy itself is vague.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim was mentioned as a candidate for mayor of Seoul before the April by-election, but disappeared in an instant.

Another is the limitations of the practical problems of organization and funding.

It is an undeniable reality that, although it intends to utilize a digital platform, it is absolutely inferior in terms of organization and funding compared to the large bipartisan parties.

Because of these limitations, there is a prospect that it will eventually lead to a unified candidate no matter what, but I strongly deny it.

For former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Dong-yeon, who joined the presidential race, to emerge, the only thing he can rely on now is his individual skill.

It remains to be seen whether it will become ‘Korea’s Macron’, as he declared, or, conversely, the second case of Ahn Cheol-soo and Ban Ki-moon.
