[정치]NSC Standing Committee “Respond Positively Based on Announced ROK-US Combined Defense Posture”

In response to North Korea’s three missile provocations in five days, the presidential office held a meeting of the National Security Council and discussed countermeasures.

The presidential office announced today (29th) at 11:10 pm through a press release that President Yun Seok-yeol was immediately informed of the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles by North Korea, and the NSC Standing Committee held under the chairmanship Kim Seong-han, head of the National Security Bureau.

The members shared the view that North Korea’s provocations are serious, triggered by the ROK-US joint maritime exercise and US Vice President Harris’ visit to Korea, and decided to respond decisively based on the established ROK-US joint defense posture US.

They also agreed to continue preparing for the possibility of additional provocations, such as a North Korean SLBM launch.

The participants condemned North Korea’s continued violation of UN Security Council resolutions and decided to respond actively by strengthening sanctions against North Korea together with allies and the international community based on ROK-US cooperation.

In particular, he said they have decided to further strengthen their deterrence capabilities against North Korea through the joint anti-submarine warfare exercise scheduled for tomorrow (30th).
