Japan’s Best Album Tops Oricon Weekly Chart for 2nd Week

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hyo-jeong Oh, Bo-ram Kim = ‘Butter’ of the group BTS set a record of 400 million views along with a record of #1 on the US Billboard’s main single chart for 5 weeks in a row.

According to the agency Big Hit Music on the 29th, YouTube views of the music video for ‘Butter’, which was released on the 21st of last month, exceeded 400 million at 11:01 pm the day before. This is BTS’s 13th music video to surpass 400 million views on YouTube

The music video for ‘Butter’ created new records as diverse as the song itself, holding four Guinness World Records.

At the time of its release, the maximum number of concurrent users exceeded 3.9 million, setting a record for the first screening (premiere) of a YouTube music video, and the record of ‘the most views in 24 hours of a YouTube music video’ (18.2 million) was recognized.

According to a Billboard article published on the 28th (US time), ‘Butter’ continued to be number one on the latest Billboard main single chart ‘Hot 100′ for 5 weeks in a row, breaking BTS’ record for the longest period of time.

Meanwhile, the best album ‘BTS, The Best’ released in Japan by BTS topped the Oricon weekly album chart this week as well as last week. According to the latest chart (21st to 27th) released by Oricon on this day, this album sold 76,000 copies in one week, increasing the cumulative sales to 858,000 copies. It is the highest cumulative sales among albums released in Japan this year.

‘BTS, The Best’ also recorded the top spot on the Oricon Daily Album Chart on the same day, maintaining the top spot for 5 days in a row.
