1,000 new confirmed cases in Seoul for 12 consecutive days… 26 deaths, a record high

[이데일리 양지윤 기자] The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Seoul area continued to be in the 1,000 range for the 12th day in a row.

As of 00:00 on the 28th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that there were 1,676 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Although the number of people decreased by 212 from the previous day, which was the all-time high, it was 356 more than the previous record of 1,320 a week ago (the 20th) on Saturday.

The number of new confirmed cases in Seoul was 1320 on the 20th, followed by 1278 (21st) → 1165 (22nd) → 1734 (23rd) → 1760 (24th) → 1742 (25th) → 1888 The number of people (26th) was recorded as 1000 people on the 12th day.

The decrease in the number of confirmed cases appears to be due to the decrease in the number of COVID-19 tests over the weekend. On average, the number of daily inspections exceeded 100,000 on weekdays, but it decreased to 82,582 on Saturday, the 27th.

The confirmation rate (the ratio of confirmed cases on the same day compared to the number of people tested the previous day) also fell from 1.6% on the 26th to 1.4% on the 27th, below the average of 1.6% for the past full week.

Among the new confirmed cases, 1,668 were domestically infected and 8 were imported from abroad. By age, 373 people in their 60s (22.3%), 278 people over 70 (16.6%), and 220 people in their 50s (13.1%) accounted for 52.0% of the total confirmed cases.

The number of confirmed cases related to Noryangjin Fish Market in Dongjak-gu, where the group infection occurred, added 63, and the number of confirmed cases in Seoul increased to 398. 16 people related to Garak Market in Songpa-gu, 10 people related to nursing facilities in Guro-gu, and 9 people related to kindergarten in Jungnang-gu were added.

The death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 26, bringing the total to 1,072. The number of daily deaths is the highest ever recorded. The previous record was 21 on the 23rd, 25th and 26th.

As of 00:00 on the 28th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul is 151,711, and the number of patients under quarantine treatment is 21,845.
