127 dead in Indonesia football stadium stampede – Indonesia | Arema FC | Persebaya Surabaya | Indonesian Football Association

Jakarta – 127 people were killed in a stampede during a football match in East Java, Indonesia. 180 people were injured. The incident happened after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at Malang football stadium.

Persebaya won the match 3-2. Afterwards, the fans of the losing team rushed the ground. The police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. Meanwhile, people were in a stampede.

Following the incident, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) announced that matches in Indonesia’s top league BRI Liga-1 have been postponed for a week and an investigation has been launched.
