15 protest female players out of team – Jorge Vilda | Spanish | Spain Women’s National Football Team

Madrid ∙ The coach of the Spanish women’s soccer team, Jorge Wilda, has retaliated by firing 15 players from the team who sent an email to the soccer federation demanding that he be removed from the training site. Although Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Poutias from Barca is not in the team, the explanation is that it is due to injury. Five rookies have been named in the 23-man squad for the games against Sweden and the United States to replace those who were left out.

Last month, the players had written to the federation demanding the removal of the coach as he was being rude to them. However, the federation ignored the players’ protests and allowed 41-year-old Wilda to continue as coach. With this, the players threatened to leave the team. The federation confirmed that it had received the players’ email but responded that such moves cannot be allowed under any circumstances. He also offered full support to the coach. Afterwards, the protesting players were expelled from the team.
