The Associated Press reported that a 15-year-old student opened fire at a high school in Michigan at around 1 pm on the 30th (local time), killing three students and injuring eight others.
A 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were killed in a shooting at a high school in Oxford, Michigan, reports said.
Of the eight injured, two are undergoing surgery, and the remaining six are said to be in relatively stable condition.
At the time of the incident, the perpetrator was said to have fired 15 to 20 guns at the scene.
After receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene and seized the semi-automatic pistol used in the crime.
The specific motive for the crime has not yet been revealed, and investigative authorities are investigating how the suspect brought a gun to school.
According to reports, before the incident, there were rumors on social media that there would be a gun threat at school.
A parent has been told that their son can also be shot at school, the Associated Press reported.
Also, at the school, earlier this month, someone threw a deer’s head from the roof onto the playground, and the school’s windows and floors were painted with red paint.
Investigators said the incident was not related to the shooting.
The school building where the incident occurred is currently closed.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed his condolences to the victims and said, “Now is the time for us to come together and help children feel safe at school.”
