Bhopal: Police have arrested a 15-year-old girl for killing a 40-day-old baby. The incident took place in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh.
The 15-year-old victim gave birth on October 16. The 15-year-old arrived at the hospital with her baby a few days ago saying she was not feeling well. When he was rushed to the hospital, doctors found the baby dead. Suspicious doctors reported the matter to police and the body was sent for post-mortem. The post-mortem report revealed that the cause of death was asphyxiation. The girl was later questioned by police and later confessed to killing the baby.
In August, the family learned that the 15-year-old, who was in close contact with the 17-year-old in the village, was pregnant. The girl was found pregnant when she was rushed to hospital with abdominal pain. With this, the girl opened up about her relationship with the 17-year-old. The family then lodged a complaint with the police and 17 people were arrested under the Pokmon Act.
Following this, the girl was admitted to the district hospital in critical condition. The girl gave birth on October 16th. He was discharged from the hospital on November 5 after treatment. But days later, the girl was rushed back to the hospital saying the baby was not well.
Police officials said the girl was mentally and physically paralyzed after being sexually assaulted and giving birth to a baby. The girl also felt embarrassed at the incident. Ashok Chaurasia, sub-divisional officer, Tendukheda police, told mediapersons that this led to the killing of the baby. Police have registered a case against the girl for murder in the incident. After being produced in juvenile court, the girl was transferred to the Juvenile Center.
