[2021 국감] Rep. Han-Jeong Kim, “More than 200 billion won in non-refundable remittances by mistake… Need to activate the system”

Last year, it was found that the amount that was not returned due to mistaken remittances was over 200 billion won.

According to Rep. Kim Han-jung, a member of the National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee and Special Budget and Settlement Committee, a total of 184,445 requests for refund in 2020, worth 465.8 billion won. Of these, 94,265 cases were not returned by financial institutions, or 211.2 billion won.

The erroneous remittance return support system is a system in which a remittee with an error amount of 50,000 won to 10 million won can get their money back through the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation even if the recipient does not return it.

Last year, after revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Depositor Protection Act and related regulations, it took effect on July 6th.

Rep. Kim said, “The Deposit Insurance Corporation’s system has a small number of applicants due to lack of publicity, and many of them are rejected. will have to be written,” he pointed out.
