The newly designed motor and battery cell are equipped with innovative direct oil cooling. Thanks to this, the Mission R concept car can reach a continuous output power of 500 kW (680 PS) in the race mode. The so-called derating, that is, the decrease in battery output power caused by thermal conditions, can be eliminated. The output power of the motor on the front axle is 320 kW (435 PS), and the motor on the rear axle is 480 kW (653 PS).

The Mission R concept car is equipped with advanced 900 V technology and Porsche Turbo charging technology. It only takes 15 minutes to stop during the race to charge the remaining power from 5% to 80%. The charging power can reach 340 kW. Another advanced research and development result of the Mission R concept car is the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with drag reduction system (DRS) at the front and rear wing, including three compartments on the two side air intakes of the front. Grille, and an adjustable two-stage tail.

In addition to the innovative battery-driven concept, the body of the Mission R concept car also pays great attention to CO2 emission reduction and sustainability: the body uses a large amount of natural fiber reinforced plastic (NFRP), and its basic material is made of flax fiber extracted from crops. This ecological material is used for the front spoiler lip, diffuser and side skirts. Natural fiber-reinforced plastics are used extensively in the interior of Mission R, such as inner door panels, rear bulkheads and seats.

The interior of the Mission R concept car is entirely driver-centric. Between the steering wheel controls, an ergonomic display screen can display game-related information. The screen above the steering column displays images from the side mirror camera and the center rearview mirror camera. The touch screen on the right side of the seat can call up information such as the driver’s biometric data. A large number of other cameras are also set up in the interior, which can be used for live broadcast to deliver wonderful pictures.

With the Mission R concept car project, Porsche has brought the distance between reality and virtual racing closer than ever. The monolithic driver module is similar in form to the racing simulator, and doubled. The safety structure of carbon fiber composite material not only provides good protection for the rider, but also is light and has a unique shape. Porsche engineers and designers call the newly developed carbon fiber roof structure “exoskeleton”. It combines the safety cage and the roof surface.
