2021 Round 20 F1 Qatar GP: Circuit & Tire Compound Commentary[F1-Gate .com]

2021 Round 20 F1 Qatar GP will be held at the Losinkle International Circuit. Official tire supplier Pirelli explained the 2021 F1 Qatar GP tires.

For the F1 Qatar GP, which will be held for the first time over 57 laps, Pirelli has selected the hardest compound, C1 (hard), C2 (medium) and C3 (soft). This is the fifth and last time this season that these three compounds have been selected.

Since Qatar is a completely new venue for F1, Pirelli has chosen the three hardest compounds that can handle all of Losail’s various demands.

F1 team simulations show that the Losail International Circuit is a circuit with highly demanding corners and highly aggressive asphalt like Silverstone and Mugello. The grip can also be affected by sand from the desert surrounding the truck.

The start finish straight is a little over 1km, but the 16 corners that make up the rest of the lap are quick and continuous, so the tires are always working hard and are expected to lead to a fairly high degradation.

The road surface hasn’t changed since the circuit opened in 2004 and is highly polished over time to provide high grip while increasing wear and degradation.

Despite the presence of artificial turf strategically placed around the circuit to keep the sand away from the desert, the asphalt is still very dusty and can affect grip.

Turns 12-14 form the right corner of the Triple Apex, which takes 5.2G and is reminiscent of Turkey’s famous Turn 8.

Qatar will be one of four races to be held in the evening under floodlight this year. Changes in track temperature are quite different from standard afternoon races and can drop significantly as the race progresses.

In the desert, there is a big difference in temperature between day and night. The race will take place at 5 pm local time, but FP1 and FP3 will be held in the heat, so only FP2 and qualifying will represent the race conditions.

There are no support races and the circuit hasn’t been used much lately. In other words, no rubber was laid on the road surface before the F1 car machine ran. As a result, drivers can initially expect slippery roads and high road evolution. Sand can also “reset” the road surface by spraying it on the truck over the weekend.

The hardest tires in the range are suitable for very greasy asphalt and rosiles with very demanding corners, as we can see. I’ve never actually raced there, so it’s only when I arrive that I can get an accurate picture of how the tires actually work on this circuit. ”
