Tripoli: 22 Malians, including three children, died in a boat accident off the Libyan coast. 61 people were rescued with the help of the Libyan Coast Guard. The United Nations and the Malian government said that 83 people were in the migrant group, most of whom were Malian citizens. Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that 61 people stranded on the ship since June 22 had been brought ashore. IOM spokesperson Safa Sehli said 22 people died due to drowning or dehydration. Libya has become a migration route to Europe.
