23,597 new confirmed COVID-19 cases … 353 severe cases, 44 deaths

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) announced that 23,597 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed as of 00:00 on the 2nd. Among the new confirmed cases, 23,351 were domestic and 246 imported. Since the first confirmed case in January 2020, the cumulative number of confirmed cases is 24,81,611.

There were 353 cases of serious severe cases, a decrease of three from the previous day. 310 (87.8%) patients over the age of 60 are classified as high risk patients among patients with severe gastritis. The number of new deaths was 44, with 43 (97.7%) over 60 years of age. The cumulative death toll was 28,489, with a mortality rate of 0.11%. 173,889 patients are treated at home.

Bed utilization rate for severe COVID-19 patients is 20.0%. Of the 1801 beds it has, 1,441 can be accepted. The utilization rate of beds treating semi-critically ill patients is 23.2%, and 2396 out of 3121 are available. The general hospital beds that treat moderately ill patients are 12.4% full, with 2071 out of 2364 empty.
