30 seconds of silence for ‘Ukraine Gigi’ at the Oscars

At the Academy Awards ceremony on the 27th, attendees, including star actors and directors, expressed their support and solidarity with Ukraine, which had been invaded by Russia, and had a 30-second silence.

Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis made her first appearance at the 94th Oscars at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (LA) that day.

“Recent events have left us feeling devastated, but we have witnessed the power and dignity of the people of Ukraine in the face of destruction,” he said.

“It is impossible not to be touched by the resilience of the people of Ukraine,” he said.

Some of the ceremony attendees wore blue and gold ribbons representing the Ukrainian flag.

Then, the attendees had a time of silence, and the organizers displayed a content appealing for Ukraine support on a large screen on the stage.

“Films are an important means of expressing humanity, but the reality is that millions of families in Ukraine need food, health care, clean drinking water and emergency services,” the organizers said. “We can do more.”
