But I had no words when it happened. Canadians, we have won the Champions League. One of our children (Alfonso Davis) is playing in Bayern Munich. Canadian players play for many clubs in Europe. Now we Canadians are going to the World Cup. ‘

‘Here we come. This is just the beginning. How great it is to be the coach of this team … ‘said Herdman.

The United States and Mexico are next in line for qualification

With one match left in the eight – team qualifying round, Canada qualified for the top spot, while the mighty United States and Mexico finished second and third, respectively. Mexico will qualify if they can draw with the United States and El Salvador if they do not lose by a big goal difference in Thursday’s match against Costa Rica.

Costa Rica, in fourth place with 22 points, will need to beat the United States by at least nine goals on Thursday to qualify directly. They can still qualify if they win by at least four goals and lose to Mexico. If they do not win, they will have to try their luck in the international play – offs.
