Recently, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that ‘four Koreans who participated in the Ukrainian War were killed’, the government began to verify the facts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 19th that it was confirming the facts through the embassy in Russia, etc.

Earlier on the 17th (local time), the Ministry of Defense of Russia asserted in an announcement on the status of Ukrainian diplomatic mercenaries in the “Special Military Operation” on the 17th (local time) that “13 Korean nationals entered Ukraine, 4 died, 8 left, and 1 remained.”

Russia has released figures on war participation, deaths and departures from Ukraine for a total of 64 countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the credibility of the announcement is low. There is an error in the statistics of Koreans who participated in the war, and there is a precedent that the Russian side claimed that two Koreans died at the end of April. The government is identifying 4 to 5 people who have entered Ukraine without permission and remain.

Rather, the prevailing view is that Russia is providing false information to prevent an increase in the number of international volunteers joining the Ukrainian military and to pressure countries that oppose the invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the war between the two countries following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine started on February 24 and has been protracted.
