42 liters of breast milk distributed by a young woman during lockdown: Nanma | Mumbai Woman Donates Breast Milk

Nidhi Parmar Hiranandini and her husband Thushar gave birth to a baby boy nine years after their marriage. Their baby boy was born on February 20, 2020. Now Nidhi’s new decision is being hailed on social media. The treasure is to give breast milk to other babies who need it after giving it to the baby.

‘Breast milk continued to flow even after the baby was given enough. That’s when I made this decision. When I looked on the internet I realized that you can use breast milk for three or four months if you take it and keep it in the refrigerator. That is how breast milk was collected and stored. But after a few days the freezer was full. Then again worried. When I looked on the internet, I saw that breast milk is used for face packs and so on. Also, some of my friends told me that breast milk can be used to bathe the baby and to wash the feet. But for some reason I could not agree more. I felt it was cruel. That’s how we decided to sell breast milk, ”says Nidhi.

Nidhi donates her breast milk to Surya Hospital in Mumbai. The Breast Milk Bank has been in the hospital since 2019. After the lockdown started, there was not enough milk. ‘I spoke to my gynecologist at the Women and Child Welfare Hospital in Bandra. They were the ones who told Surya to give milk to the hospital. I had 20 packets of milk in my hand. Having a baby at home made it difficult for me to get milk to the hospital in case the covid spreads. But the hospital authorities were willing to come home and collect the milk, ”Nidhi said.
