4,423 new confirmed cases, 600 cases in severe cases for two days in a row

The Central Quarantine Countermeasures Headquarters announced that as of 00:00 today, the number of patients with severe symptoms was 626, a decrease of 33 from the previous day.

Due to the recent slowdown in the spread of COVID-19, the number of severe cases continued to exceed 600 for the second day.

The utilization rate of hospital beds dedicated to critical patients with COVID-19 was 33.8% nationwide and 34.8% in the metropolitan area, where confirmed cases were concentrated, maintaining the 30% level.

On the other hand, there were 4,423 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 119 from the previous day, but an increase of 915 from a week ago.

In particular, the number of imported cases estimated to be the majority of omicron mutations was 346.

The government has decided to extend the current heightened social distancing measures by three weeks until the end of the Lunar New Year holiday.

However, the limit on the number of people at private meetings will be increased from the current 4 to 6, and even if the quarantine pass is violated, it will be slightly relaxed by increasing the number of warnings rather than immediately imposing a fine.
