Japan stunned by covid deaths. 456 covid deaths were reported in the country in one day. This is the highest number of deaths recorded in one day. 2,45,542 Covid cases have been reported since Thursday. There are 20,720 cases in Tokyo alone. 53 people who are in a critical condition due to covid have been admitted to a hospital in Tokyo.
In December 2022, 7,688 Covid deaths were reported. Officials said the eighth wave is now in Japan and the spread of Covid has been increasing sharply since November. In the last three months of 2021, there were 16 times more deaths than the number of deaths due to Covid-19 at the same time last year.
40.8 per cent of those who died between August 31 and December 27 last year were over 80 years old. 34.7 percent are over 90 years old and 17 percent are over 70 years old. Officials said 92.4 percent of the total deaths were in these three age groups.
