‘5 Billion Club’ Summoned Kwak Sang-do and Kwon Soon-il… speed up the investigation

The prosecution, which is investigating the allegation of Daejang-dong, summoned and investigated former lawmaker Kwak Sang-do and former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Soon-il as suspects at the same time. Both of them have been referred to as the so-called ‘5 billion club’, which is the target of lobbying by private businesses in Daejang-dong.

Former lawmaker Kwak, who was questioned by the prosecution as a suspect, received 5 billion won in the name of severance pay after his son worked for Hwacheon Daeyu. I’m suspicious.

When the Hana Bank consortium, led by Hwacheon Daewoo, was in danger of collapse in the early stages of the business, former lawmaker Kwak said it was the price for his influence on Hana Financial Group.

Prosecutors are said to have questioned whether former lawmaker Kwak was able to apply the charge of mediation, and whether he actually exercised influence.

It was revealed that former Supreme Court Justice Kwon Kwon, who was questioned on the same day, had been receiving 15 million won a month as an advisor to Hwacheon Daeyu after he retired last year.

Regarding this, when former Supreme Court Justice Kwon stood on the acquittal side when he dismissed and remanded Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myung’s case of violating the Public Official Election Act two months before his retirement, suspicions have been raised that he might have assumed the position of advisor to Hwacheon Daeyu in return.

Prosecutors are said to have confirmed the reason for joining Hwacheon Daeyu as an advisor to former Supreme Court Justice Kwon and the suspicion of trial transactions.

While there is an evaluation that the prosecution has recently launched a full-scale investigation into the 5 billion promise club, following former special prosecutor Park Young-soo and media chairman, former lawmaker Kwak and former Supreme Court Justice Kwon in succession, there is an evaluation that the development of Daejang-dong remains. There are mixed interpretations of whether the investigation is to be rushed out.
