In Beijing, China, where the Labor Day holiday (April 30 to May 4) began, 54 new infections occurred and the spread continued.

According to the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention on the 30th, 54 new infections (including 6 asymptomatic infections) were confirmed in Beijing the day before.

By recent date, there were 6 people on the 22nd, 22 people on the 23rd, 19 people on the 24th, 33 people on the 25th, 34 people on the 26th, 50 people on the 27th, 49 people on the 28th, and 54 people on the 29th.

Beijing City announced on the 27th and 28th that 14 samples tested positive in the secondary gene amplification (PCR) test conducted on 21.1 million residents in 12 districts, which account for more than 90% of the population. 14 specimens contain samples from 105 villagers.

Beijing has been conducting the third PCR test from the 29th to today. Accordingly, the number of new infections is expected to increase for the time being.

Six management and control zones were also designated, including one in Chaoyang District on the 25th, two in Tongzhou and one in Fengtai District on the 26th, and two in Chaoyang District on the 27th One additional location was designated on the same day. Currently, 361 buildings are under containment management in these management and control zones.

Restaurants, movie theaters, libraries, art galleries, museums, karaoke rooms, and PC rooms cannot be opened in the management and control areas. However, shops, supermarkets, and hospitals that sell basic daily necessities are operating normally.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Beijing has ordered the temporary suspension of movie theaters and various performance programs during the Labor Day holiday.

In addition, from the 5th of next month, when the Labor Day holiday ends, users of Beijing public transport can board the bus only if they have a PCR negative certificate within 7 days.

The city of Beijing has decided to make all PCR tests free of charge from the 3rd of next month in consideration of the burden on citizens from routine PCR tests.

Meanwhile, the number of new infections in Shanghai the day before was found to be 11,181 (including 8,932 asymptomatic infections). The actual number of new infections, excluding cases that were classified as asymptomatic and then reclassified as symptomatic confirmed cases, was 9,196, a slight decrease from 9,970 on the 28th.

Shanghai city authorities explained that the previous day, 57 people died from COVID-19, with an average age of 82.4, and all had underlying medical conditions.

Since the first death was reported on the 17th, the cumulative death toll in Shanghai has risen to 441.

The total number of new infections in China is 1703 (including 9,293 asymptomatic infections), and the actual number of new infections, excluding double counted cases, is 9,690.
