The Associated Press reported that Russia fired 67 missiles into Ukraine on the 23rd local time, causing power cuts across Ukraine, including the capital Kiev.

Ukraine’s state power operator Ukrenergo said in a statement that “the missile attack is still ongoing, but the energy infrastructure has already been hit” and “emergency power cuts are occurring in all regions.”

“We will start repairs as soon as the air raid warning ends,” Ucrenergo said, adding “it is necessary to protect the power grid from further technical incidents and maintain the power system.”

As a result, all or parts of cities across Russia, including the capital Kiu, Kharkiv in the north, and Lviv in the west, suffered power cuts.

Moldova, which shares a border with Ukraine, has also suffered power cuts in more than half of its territory, Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister said.

“We are an unbreakable people,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video address posted on Telegram.

Russia, which suffered a humiliating retreat after eight months of occupying the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, has been bombarding Ukraine with airstrikes targeting vital infrastructure in recent weeks.
