Heuksando in Sinan, Jeollanam-do is an island 7 hours away from Seoul by train and boat.
In the next three years, there will be a small airport, so you can reach it in an hour by plane.
It is also expected that the islanders’ basic transport rights will be improved.

Administrative procedures for the construction of an airport in Shinan, Jeollanam-do have been completed.
It has been 13 years since the administrative procedures began, and 15 years have passed since the construction of Heuksan Airport was discussed.
The National Park Committee has decided to release the Heuksan Airport site from the national park and incorporate an alternative site eight times wider.
Heuksan Airport was initially planned to open in 2020, but was put on hold due to concerns about habitats for migratory birds and environmental damage.
Heuksan Airport is a small airport that operates 50-passenger aircraft with a 1,200m long and 30m wide runway at the north-eastern tip of Heuksando Island.
As the national task of the current government, about 180 billion won will be invested in the construction.
The aim is to start construction in the second half of this year at the earliest and open in 2026.
“For those who cannot get on the boat, these difficulties can be solved, and it seems to be of great help in evacuating emergency patients and reviving the local economy.”
At the moment, the only way of transport on Heuksando is by ferry.
It has been cut off from the land for almost 100 days a year due to bad weather.
Most of all, the people who are welcome are the residents of Heuksando.
“The residents persevered in waiting for it to happen as soon as possible. All the residents clapped their hands and went wild.”
