A teenage boy was shot on Friday night in Wilmington, and this week was the seventh victim of shooting in Delaware's largest city.
Four of the victims are 20 years old or younger.
The last one is a 15-year-old boy's age, shot Friday at about 9:30 p.m. near 13th and Thatcher streets, according to Wilmington Police. The police said the boy was transferred to the hospital and is "stable."
The police offered no further information.
When asked on Friday about the increased violence in the city, Wilmington Police spokesman David Karas said, "As with any shooting incident, our investigators, patrol officers and specialized departments are collected and shared and develop response plans to mobilize resources as we work to identify those responsible and prevent future incidents. "
Mayor Wilmington Mike Purzycki's office did not respond to requests for traffic on the shooting.
In 2019, there were 71 shooting victims in Wilmington, 20 years more than a year ago. Over the past year, 78 people have been defeated in the city.
