A fire broke out in a house in Caotun Town, Nantou County, Taiwan early this (1st) morning. A man died. According to reports, the landlord confirmed that the deceased was a 27-year-old Hong Kong student surnamed Li. “Position News” has inquired with the Immigration Department and its affiliated universities.

According to Taiwan media reports, the house that caught fire was located on Zhongzheng Road, Fuliao Li, Caotun Township, Nantou County, and was a suite rented out to students. The firefighter received the report at 5 o’clock in the morning today and arrived at the scene to shoot water to fight the fire. After controlling the fire, the fire was searched and rescued. A young man on the 3rd floor was found dead. The shop owner later confirmed that the deceased was a 27-year-old Hong Kong student surnamed Li.

Lianhe News.com quoted the Caotun branch as saying that the 27-year-old Li originally attended a science and technology university in Caotun and then transferred to the Zhongzhou University of Science and Technology in Yuanlin. According to Taiwan media, the university where the deceased was studying and the Taiwan authorities are contacting relatives and friends of the deceased to deal with the aftermath, while the fire and police are investigating the cause of the fire, and no arson has been found for the time being.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department stated that it has not yet received such assistance and will continue to monitor developments closely.
