A man in his 40s who made a fuss on a KTX train and a train station while intoxicated and assaulted even a railroad police officer was spared from imprisonment at the appeals trial.

According to the court on the 27th, the first part of the Daejeon District Court’s Criminal Court (Presiding Judge Seong-muk Yoon) overturned the original trial and sentenced a 45-year-old man who was charged with violating the Railroad Safety Act and insulting him to a fine of 15 million won.

According to News 1, Mr. A drank makgeolli without a mask in the cabin of the KTX train bound for Yongsan, which departed from Gwangju Songjeong Station on May 2nd. He was handed over to trial on charges of abusive language, such as saying, “I am not cheap” to the flight attendant who stopped it. A few days later, it is known that Mr. A was making a fuss in the waiting room of Daejeon Station and assaulted the railroad police officer who stopped him, swearing and pushing his chest.

The court of first instance sentenced him to six months in prison for Mr. However, the second instance court overturned the original judgment and imposed a fine.

The court of appeals said, “The victims were not forgiven, but mental illness seems to have been the cause.”
