A Chinese man who refused to quarantine and fled was arrested in Seoul in two days

A Chinese man in his 40s who fled after arriving from China on the 3rd after being diagnosed with Corona 19 and refusing to be quarantined at a hotel, a temporary living facility, was caught by police in Seoul on the 5th, two a day later.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they arrested a 41-year-old Chinese national who was hiding in a hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul at around 12:55 pm

Mr. A is suspected of refusing quarantine and fleeing due to the confirmation of Corona 19 near a hotel, a temporary living facility in Yeongjong Island, Jung-gu, Incheon, around 10:04 pm on the 3rd.

Hotel CCTV (CC) showed the quarantine bus arriving in the car park and 6 minutes later, Mr A, who got out of the vehicle, ran away. It was found that Mr A went to a large supermarket in Yeongjong Island, about 300 meters away from the hotel, and took a taxi to Seoul.

After arriving at Incheon International Airport on a passenger flight from China on the 3rd, Mr A tested positive in the Corona 19 PCR (genetic amplification) test and was supposed to be quarantined in a hotel.

The police intend to investigate the reason for the escape and the route of movement after seizing Mr A at the Yeongjong Island Hotel in Incheon, where he first fled.

A police officer said, “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will identify the people Mr A came into contact with while on the run.”

Mr A will be sentenced to up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won for breaching the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act.
