Of those who do, some are clear and others are more difficult to see. Experts say earlier diagnosis of treatment may be more effective.

And the test, which can be located at home without medical supervision, could be the number of “well-worried” people sent to cut scans.

The first, second and third are not animals.

It is being piloted by the NHS South London and Maudsley Foundation Trust. Next month it will be used in North East London, Sussex and Devon and could be rolled out nationally next year.

It has developed medical technology company Cognetivity.

Chief executive Sina Habibi said: “Each image is different in terms of complexity.”
