A group of 8 illegal migrants was captured today near the village of Troyanovo, Kameno municipality. After the strengthening of control and crossing points for 3 weeks, no migrants have been spotted in the area, BNR reported.
A local resident reported today that he noticed the group of young tired and muddy men, said the mayor of Troyanovo, Dimitar Nikolov.
“I immediately started the car and went to the appropriate place that was indicated to me. They crossed from one side of the ravine to the other. We made a civil arrest. We took them to the town hall and called the Border Police. As far as I understand, they are Syrians who want to go through Bulgaria to Italy,” explained the mayor.
The men have already been picked up by Border Police officers. The last case of a migrant passing through the village was 3 weeks ago.
“There was a migrant who went out to the center of the village by himself. He was even sitting on a container. We picked him up, according to his data, there were still a group of about 12-13 people who visited the village’s land in the evening, but according to his words, they abandoned him and continued on their way,” added Nikolov.
