At 1:08 am on the 22nd, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in a sea area 75 km southeast of Oita in Oita Prefecture (Kyushu), Japan, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

The epicenter is 32.70 degrees north latitude and 132.10 degrees east longitude, and the depth of the earthquake is 40 km.

As a result of the earthquake, reports of vibrations were felt in Busan, Yangsan, Gyeongnam, and Jeollanam-do.

A citizen of Yangsan said, “I felt the vibration around 1:13 am. There were a lot of earthquake posts on Mom Cafe.”

In Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, there were two reports of feeling a weak vibration to the fire department.

According to the Jeollanam-do Fire Department, reports came in at 1:14 and 1:16 a.m. that day, “I felt the ground shake near the apartment.”

However, no reports or inquiries were received in Gwangju.

The Korea Meteorological Administration explained that “earthquakes can be felt in Busan, Gyeongnam, and Ulsan areas.”
