The house of a man living alone in his 50s found by welfare officials in a crisis situation.

A man in his 50s, who was in danger of starvation for more than 10 days in a poor residential environment without an air conditioner in the heat, saved his life with the quick response of a welfare official.

According to Yangcheon-gu, Seoul on the 22nd, a welfare official at the Sinjeong 3-dong Community Service Center called Mr. A, a man in his 50s, on the morning of the 17th to check the account related to the payment of the national subsidy for the underprivileged.

When Mr. A did not answer the call after trying several times, the official in charge continued to call. The call managed to connect, but over the handset, “Some juice… ‘ was barely heard.

The community center care manager and visiting nurse immediately sensed that the situation was in crisis and rushed to the scene. Through the gap in the slightly opened door, I was able to find Mr. A, who was sitting on the porch with a bare bone without an air conditioner.

As a result of checking the situation after first aid, Mr. A was a patient suffering from severe diabetes and alcoholism, and was unable to eat for more than 10 days, showing symptoms of low blood pressure and malnutrition.

As a result of an investigation by the community center, Mr. A had been in a relationship with his family for a long time and had been cut off due to alcoholism. He was not a recipient of basic livelihood, so he was in the blind spot of welfare.

Mr. A, who was transferred to the hospital with the help of the Shinjeong 3-dong Care SOS Center, is currently receiving inpatient treatment. During the examination, it was reported that a new disease that Mr. A was not aware of was discovered.

The Sinjeong 3-dong Community Service Center is planning to support the improvement of the residential environment, such as cleaning the house of Mr.

In addition, with the consent of Mr. A’s family, we decided to apply for benefits in parallel so that Mr. A can enter the system. A’s family decided to try to restore the relationship with A at the persuasion of the community center.

Yangcheon-gu mayor Kim Soo-young said, “We will continue to make Yangcheon free from lonely deaths through a tight welfare network, including the promotion of substantial customized welfare policies.”
