Former President Trump received an honorary 9th Dan Taekwondo certificate from Kukkiwon Director Lee Dong-seop at the Mar-a-Lago Resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where he resides, on the 19th (local time).

Kukkiwon has released several photos, with a picture framed in the background of former President Trump trying to shake hands with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

This meeting started as an impromptu proposal, so the security guard and the working-level preparation team were confused, but in the end, after a brief meeting between the North Korean leaders at Panmunjom, and even President Moon Jae-in, it led to a three-way meeting.

Although denuclearization negotiations have not made progress despite three summit meetings, former President Trump has since exchanged personal letters with Chairman Kim and emphasized the good relationship, expressing closeness.

Meanwhile, according to a blog post from Kukkiwon Director Lee’s interview on Facebook, former President Trump mentioned Chairman Kim at the presentation ceremony and said, “I want Korea to live in peace. I want to play that role.”

He also said, “I’d like to wear this uniform and go to Parliament next time I become president,” and he said, “Why is Taekwondo the best sport out of many martial arts?”
