The flight from the United Arab Emirates to Australia finished safely despite an accident that caused a large hole in the side of the flight.

According to foreign media such as The Independent and Business Insider on the 5th (local time), a defect occurred in the exterior panel of the Emirates Aircraft plane 45 minutes after takeoff from the runway to go from the United Arab Emirates to Australia.

According to the passenger’s testimony at the time, ‘bang!’ There was a loud noise, and the floor vibrated.

At the time of the explosion, the flight crew stopped the in-flight meal service and checked the wings and engine, but it was reported that they did not detect any abnormal signals. The pilots judged that the wheel used for takeoff and landing had a hole in it, and chose normal flight rather than a turnaround or emergency landing. They also requested an ’emergency service’ in advance at Brisbane Airport, Australia’s destination.

It wasn’t until arriving at the airport after 14 hours of flight that the cause of the roar was discovered, which was due to a hole in the side of the plane’s exterior panel, not the wheel.

Brisbane Airport engineers found a large hole on the left side of the plane and some of the gears that tuck the wheels into the plane to reduce aerodynamic drag were loosened. However, it is not known whether the loosening of some bolts is related to the hole.

An Emirates spokesperson said in an interview with a media outlet that “one of the plane’s 22 tires ruptured in flight, causing a technical defect,” which “damaged the aircraft’s exterior panels and some small parts.”

“The plane landed safely, and no passengers were injured or evacuated,” he added.

According to Emirates Airline, the aircraft canceled all scheduled flight schedules and received maintenance at Brisbane Airport, and returned to Dubai Airport in the evening three days later.
