  • Yesterday (20th) at around 8:05 pm, a KF-16 fighter jet belonging to the 19th Fighter Wing of the Air Force crashed, the Air Force announced.

    According to the military, during a patrol mission, an engine failure occurred in the mountainous area of ​​Yangdong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, about 20 km west of the Wonju base in Gangwon-do, and one pilot escaped.

    The crashed fighter is a KF-16C with one seat (single seat), and the pilot who escaped is safe and will be taken to the Air Force Aerospace Medical Center.

    The fighter is said to have some weapons, such as several air-to-air missiles, but it was found that there was no civilian damage, and the army continues to check if there is any damage.

    The Air Force fighter jet crash occurred on August 12th in Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, about three months after an F-4E fighter jet crashed into the West Sea and two pilots escaped safely.

    The KF-16 is an F-16 series fighter introduced as the first next generation fighter project (KFP).
