A meter-high pillar appeared above the buildings. The pillar has a strong light from the clouds at the top and a rectangular part at the bottom. Locals took several pictures and scenes after the phenomenon was noticed. As these were shared on social media, people reacted as if an alien spacecraft had landed on Earth from space.
At the same time, experts say that this is a completely natural phenomenon. Zia Shuwandong, a scientist at the Liaoning Meteorological Bureau, suggests that light may have penetrated the relatively thin part of the dense clouds. His conclusion is that this light may have appeared in the shape of a column due to the presence of vapor in the atmosphere. But his explanation is that this is the first time he has seen such a phenomenon and therefore cannot give it a scientific name.
