A woman was allegedly arrested in Iran for eating in a hotel without wearing a hijab. The family claims the woman was arrested by the Iranian police. Photos of Donya and another young woman friend eating in a hotel without covering their heads were circulated on social media.

Donya’s sister said that after the photo went viral, the security agency called her sister and asked for an explanation. Dhonya’s sister claims he was arrested when he went to give an explanation and after hours there was no information.

The sister said when Donya called, she was told she had been moved to Ward 209 at Evin Prison. The sister claimed that Doniya was in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison.

Recently, many people have been illegally detained in Iran. Author Mona Borsouwei, Iranian soccer player Hossein Mahini, and Faysei Rafsanjani, daughter of former Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, were reportedly detained recently.

Musician Shervin Hajipour was also arrested this week after he composed a song based on tweets from Iranians explaining why there are ongoing protests in Iran.

The protest started in Iran after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was brutally attacked and killed after being detained for allegedly not wearing a proper headscarf. Mahsa Amini was killed on September 16.
