A$AP Rocky made his debut as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live on January 17, 2026, performing tracks from his latest studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. The appearance followed the release of the album on Friday, January 16, marking the rapper’s first studio project since 2018.

The episode was hosted by Finn Wolfhard, and Rocky delivered three performances during the broadcast. For the opening act, Rocky performed the lead single Punk Rocky on a set designed to look like a back alley, featuring a spray-painted garage and a cast of characters trashing the environment.

During the performance of Punk Rocky, the rapper wore pink hair curlers and used a megaphone. He was joined on stage by bassist Thundercat and composer Danny Elfman, who played the drums.

Later in the broadcast, Rocky returned to the stage to perform a medley consisting of the album’s title track and the song Helicopter$.

Album Release and Visuals

Don’t Be Dumb arrived on January 16 after a series of delays and false starts. The project includes 16 tracks and features guest appearances from Doechii and Tyler, The Creator. The cover art for the album was designed by Tim Burton.

In the lead-up to the release, music videos were released for Helicopter$ and Punk Rocky. The visual for Punk Rocky stars Winona Ryder.

Additional SNL Appearances

Beyond his musical sets, A$AP Rocky participated in a comedic sketch titled Snack Homiez. The sketch featured a teen podcast about snacks and included host Finn Wolfhard and a cameo by Sabrina Carpenter.

Additional SNL Appearances

While this marked his first time as a musical guest, Rocky had previously appeared on the show in 2018 in a sketch called Friendos alongside Donald Glover and Kenan Thompson.

Career Context and Future Dates

The release of Don’t Be Dumb ends an eight-year gap between studio albums for the Harlem-born rapper. His previous studio album, Testing, was released in 2018 and reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. His earlier projects, 2013’s Long. Live. ASAP and 2015’s At. Long. Last. ASAP, both peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

A$AP Rocky is scheduled to be one of the headliners at the 2026 Governor’s Ball Music Festival in New York City.

The 51st season of Saturday Night Live has included other musical guests such as Lily Allen, Cher, Doja Cat, Brandi Carlile, Olivia Dean, Dijon, and Sabrina Carpenter. Recent hosts have included Ariana Grande and Bad Bunny.
