AB de Villiers | Padani is no longer available for the Royal Challengers; AB de Villiers announces retirement from all formats

Cape Town: Former South African and AB de Villiers, the main batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, has retired from all forms of cricket. The 37-year-old announced his retirement on social media.

De Villiers’ announcement of his retirement from international cricket came as a surprise to everyone as he continued to excel in his career in 2018. Now he has made it clear that he will no longer be involved in franchise cricket, including the IPL.

He also thanked South Africa and India for their support during his tenure. De Villiers also thanked all his teammates, opponents, coaches and all the staff, including physio. After retiring from international cricket, De Villiers was a valuable player in the T20 leagues such as the BBL and IPL.

De Villiers made his Test debut in December 2004 against England. De Villiers has scored 8765 runs from 114 Tests at an average of 50.66. He has scored 22 centuries, two double centuries and 46 half-centuries in Tests. De Villiers made his ODI debut against England in February 2005 following his Test debut. He also scored 9577 runs from 228 ODIs. He has scored 25 centuries and 53 fifties in ODIs.

De Villiers’ T20 debut was against Australia on February 24, 2006, a year after joining the ODI team. He has scored 1672 runs in 78 Twenty20 matches, including 10 fifties. He has played in 184 IPL matches and has scored 5162 runs, including three centuries and 40 fifties.
