So far, it has taken up to three to four more days to confirm that a confirmed case of Corona is infected with Omicron.

From yesterday, new PCR reagents that can detect omicron mutations within three to four hours have started to be utilized in earnest.

“The fact that the test can be conducted quickly within 4 hours…

It was developed for the first time in the world as a reagent that can identify not only Omicron but also five mutated viruses including alpha, beta, gamma, and delta mutations at once.

The government plans to test all cases of epidemiologic association with omicron contacts with the new reagent.

As a result, the number of Omicron infections is expected to increase significantly.

“If the route of infection is unclear or if the local government can determine the range of additional mutation testing, the number of confirmed (omicron) cases could increase.”

As of 9 p.m. last night, there were 4,349 new cases of COVID-19.

There were 184 fewer people than at the same time the day before.

If you add up the number of confirmed cases until midnight, the number of new cases to be announced today is expected to record around 5,000.

The utilization rate of intensive care beds in the metropolitan area fell below 70%.
