[北京 29日 ロイター] – British medical research company Airfinity estimated on the 29th that around 9,000 people a day die from the new coronavirus in China. That is almost double the figure from a week ago.

The death toll in China has surpassed 100,000 since December 1, with a total of 18.6 million confirmed cases, the statement said. It said it used a model based on data from Chinese provinces before changes to case reporting were implemented.

The number of coronavirus infections in China is expected to reach its first peak on January 13, reaching 3.7 million per day. The death toll is expected to peak on January 23 at around 25,000 per day. The increased number of deaths since December is 584,000.

According to Chinese authorities, 10 people have died since the policy change on December 7. China’s official death toll since the start of the 2020 pandemic was 5,246 on Wednesday.

Airfinity predicts the death toll across China will reach 1.7 million by the end of April.
