Kochi: The trial court will today rule on a petition filed by the prosecution seeking cancellation of Dileep’s bail in the case of assault on the actress. The prosecution had approached the court seeking cancellation of bail on the ground that there was a move on the part of the accused to sabotage the case. The prosecution alleges that the bail conditions were repeatedly violated.
Dileep is the eighth accused in the case. The trial court will rule on the petition today after weeks of arguments.
The prosecution argued in court that Dileep had influenced more than a dozen witnesses and destroyed evidence at the behest of his lawyers. Testimonies and digital documents were produced in this regard. The probe team also pointed out that the evidence in Dileep’s mobile phone was destroyed by a cyber expert.
However, Dileep claimed that the prosecution was not involved in the controversy. Dileep alleged that he did not try to influence witnesses and that the prosecution was trying to create a fume in the case. Dileep also argued that the prosecution’s new petition was based on director Balachandra Kumar’s script.
