Adventure Tourism: Oman Tourists Beckons | Adventure tourism: Oman is calling for tourists

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for the development of adventure tourism in the country. The authorities are preparing plans to attract adventure tourism activities. The first edition of the Oman Tourism Meeting in collaboration with ‘Omran’ will be held on 27 and 28 September at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Oman Tourism Meeting will be a great opportunity to meet organizers, developers, researchers and those interested in adventure tourism. Daoud Bin Sulaiman Al Rashidi, Director of Tourism Product Development in the General Directorate of Tourism Development, said that a plan has been prepared to develop adventure tourism in collaboration with the relevant authorities. Security etc. will be provided to the workers and participants. He said this will be implemented by preparing a legal and regulatory framework for adventure tourism in the Sultanate.

The aim is to make the Sultanate the world’s best destination for adventure travel. The ministry will work closely with New Zealand for this. Rashidi said the aim is to benefit from New Zealand’s experience in organizing adventure tourism, rescue operations, first aid and ambulance services. The Ministry in collaboration with Omran has provided funding for the development of walking trails in Musandam. Rashidi said that a list of natural sites, caves and wadis is being prepared to ensure the safety and security of the adventurers. The latest global statistics indicate that the global adventure tourism market will grow to 282.1 billion US dollars by 2021. It is expected to expand at an annual growth rate of 15.2 percent between 2022 and 2030.
