Kuwait City: Kuwait AFC Futsal qualified for the quarter-finals of the Asia Cup after drawing Iraq in their last group game. Kuwait’s next game is against Uzbekistan on Tuesday. Kuwait scored the first goal through Alwadi in the second minute against a strong Iraq, but Iraq retaliated in the 13th minute. After that, Iraq continued to attack, which was a vital victory to enter the quarters. Iraq took the lead with a second goal in the 18th minute. Faisal scored both goals for Iraq. After being behind by one goal, Kuwait woke up and played. Kuwait equalized at the end of the first half in the 21st minute through Ala Musabihi. Iraq then fought for victory, but Kuwait held strong.

Thailand, who got seven points from Group A, had already secured a quarter of an entry. Kuwait entered the quarters as the second seed. After winning against Oman, Kuwait drew with Thailand and Iraq and got five points to reach the last eight. With a draw against Kuwait, Iraq dropped to third place with four points and Kuwait hopes to beat Uzbekistan in the quarters and enter the semi-finals. Uzbekistan entered the quarter-finals as the unbeaten runners-up from Group B. Kuwait will have to put in a good performance to get through the quarters. Thailand, Tajikistan and Iran have already qualified for the quarter-finals. The group games will end on Monday.
