After labor, Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol have a bilateral discussion and a four-party discussion

A bilateral debate between Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and People’s Strength presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol will be held on the 31st. A four-party debate will take place on the 3rd of next month, with Justice Party presidential candidate Shim Sang-jung and People’s Party presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo.

According to politicians on the 28th, the Democratic Party, the Justice Party, and the People’s Party held a pre-rule meeting at KBS this afternoon. These three political parties decided to participate in the debate hosted by the three terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, and SBS) on the 3rd of next month.

The rule meeting was held without the People’s Power, but the People’s Power immediately issued a statement and said that it would join the four-party discussion. This situation developed as the Democratic Party accepted the bilateral discussion between Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol.

Immediately after the rule meeting, Rep. Park Jumin, the head of the Democratic Party’s broadcast debate contents, said in a statement, “As a result of the terrestrial broadcast debate working-level meeting, it was agreed to hold a four-party discussion at 8 pm on February 3rd.” “The power of the people is 2 We have to confirm participation in the four-party discussion on the 3rd of the month.”

“The People’s Power proposed a bilateral discussion on the 31st. We will reconfirm our participation in the bilateral discussion on the 31st.” He added, “We will start working-level negotiations for the bilateral discussion on the 31st and the four-party discussion on the 3rd of February. Candidate Lee made clear his intention to participate in the bilateral debate on the 31st, so candidate Yoon should participate in the four-party debate without any further conditions, and participate in working-level negotiations for this.”

In a statement that day, Rep. Seong Il-jong, the head of the People’s Power TV debate negotiating group, said, “I sincerely welcome the proposals for the bilateral discussion on January 31 and the four-party discussion on February 3, respectively, proposed by the People’s Power.” Request the commencement of working-level negotiations immediately. We will take immediate action so that working-level negotiations can resume even if it is late today.”

The People’s Party expressed dissatisfaction with the statement of both parties. The People’s Party asked the Democratic Party to withdraw its position at the rule meeting on the 31st to hold bilateral discussions. However, the position of the People’s Party was that there was no consultation on this. In such a situation, he issued a statement saying the problem was that it was announcing that the consultation had been concluded with only the premise of the discussion scheduled for the 3rd of next month.

The People’s Party said, “The People’s Party requested the Democratic Party to withdraw the bilateral discussion agreement, pointing out that the bilateral debate between the Democratic Party and the People’s Power is an act of collusion that ignores the purpose of the court’s decision.” was a place to share opinions on the rules of the three terrestrial broadcast debates to be held on February 3, and no agreement was reached with the Democratic Party.”

However, even if bilateral discussions are held, they are expected to attend the four-party discussion scheduled for next month. It was explained that the terrestrial broadcasters who participated in the rule meeting had not heard the news that they would also be absent.

An official from the People’s Party said in a phone call with Media Today, “It’s not that we won’t go out definitively,” he said. “It’s our policy to participate in all discussions.”

An official from the KBS Election Broadcasting Team said, “The People’s Party did not officially announce its intention to not participate in the debate. I only mentioned the possibility,” he explained.

Due to the court’s decision, bilateral discussions must be broadcast on platforms other than terrestrial channels. The first discussion on terrestrial TV will be the first discussion next month with a four-party discussion.
