When it came to reading the news there was the tension of how to read. You can not read the news as the news says. There was a tension that things had to get to the people and that the news had to be clear and accurate.

The then Minister of Public Works, P.J. Jayaram recalled that it was on that day that Joseph resigned and the resignation was announced just before he went up to read the news.

Jayaram said that after reading the news, Mammootty called and congratulated him. Jayaram said that Mammootty told him not to be so perfect in life and that he could have made at least one mistake on purpose.
